Education

Our Education goals:

  • To inspire our learners to see themselves as individual reflections of God's Image;

  • To instill a desire to make the world a better place through expression of Jewish values with a sense of fulfilling mitzvot;

  • To enable our children to comfortably participate in traditional worship services, with a knowledge of Hebrew and familiarity with the major themes of the Siddur;

  • To cultivate within our students a strong Jewish identity through the holidays, rituals and life cycle celebrations, along with a commitment to Conservative Judaism and a sense of belonging to the Beth Am family.

Religious School - Oviedo and Longwood

We conduct Religious School for students in grades 3-7 at Fellowship Hall (on Red Bug Lake Road, between Dodd Road and Tuskawilla Road).  Rabbi Rick Sherwin, along with a staff of experienced teachers, conducts the classes.  Classes are held from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesdays.

The same curriculum is presented to students in grades 3-7 who attend classes at the facilities of Beth Am in Longwood.  Classes here are also taught by Rabbi Rick and an experienced staff.  In Longwood, the classes are held Wednesday afternoons from 4:15 PM to 6:00 PM.

All students in grades K-5 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM until Noon at Beth Am in Longwood. Students in grades 6 & 7 meet on Saturday mornings at 9:10 AM, prior to the Shabbat morning service.

 Our classes are open to all students, regardless of synagogue affiliation.
