Beth
Am Is Florida's Kid-Friendliest Congregation
Fourth Fridays of the month at Congregation Beth Am will never be the
same again! Florida's Friendliest Congregation is definitely Florida's
Kid-Friendliest Congregation! Thanks to the planning of program
coordinator Shari Riddell, the monthly Family Shabbat service is one that young
families – however "young" is defined – will not want to miss.
Robyn Colley, a young mother who has been integrally involved in the
program, says, "It is often difficult for parents with young children to
attend late Friday night synagogue services. It is usually past bedtimes
and the kids become restless. This earlier Kabalat Shabbat service makes
it easy and fun for families to welcome Shabbat in shul." Rabbi Rick
believes, "Our synagogue needs to be filled with the voices and laughter of
young children. Without them, we have no future. It's not just that
we love children; we need them to know
that at Beth Am they are loved."
The early Friday Family Shabbat services are held on the fourth Friday of each month at 7 PM (except on those Fridays when there is a Bat/Bar Mitzva). All members of the Jewish community are always welcome at services at Beth Am. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to check this web site or to contact Shari Riddell at shaririddell@cfl.rr.com for more information.
